GIVE TO OUR ARTISTS IN THE MAKING APPEAL TODAY!
|
|
THIS WINTER THE POUND IS LAUNCHING A SPECIAL APPEAL TO RAISE £10,000 TO SUPPORT AND INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARTISTS
The arts centre plans to create three studio spaces for emerging artists and a community workshop space where children and families can take part in arts and crafts activities.
To date £145,000 has been raised, but for this project to go ahead we need to raise a further £45,000 before the end of the winter. Our Artists in the Making appeal aims to raise £10,000 and the remaining £35,000 we intend to raise from grants and business sponsorship.
To help us raise £10,000, we are adding a voluntary £1 donation on all tickets sold in this new season. As a voluntary donation, we will be able to claim Gift Aid and that means for every £1 you give the government will give us 25p. If everyone agreed to make a donation, we would raise up to £2,500 from ticket sales alone.
Two cards have been created by local artist Susie Brooks in support of the Artists in the Making Appeal. All profits raised will be donated to the appeal and are available to buy from The Pound and The Goldfish Bowl Gallery in Corsham.
You can now help us raise the £10,000 we need by donating through Just Text Giving by Vodafone.
Simply text the code AITM12 followed by the amount you would like to donate, e.g: AITM12 £2
You will then recieve a thank you text and have the option to gift aid your donation.

ARTIST STUDIOS AT THE POUND
|
|
Ceramicist Claire Baker is The Pound's artist in residence in Studio One. She has exhibited at art galleries internationally, including in Geneva and New York, and at various galleries around the UK. She was featured in David Nicholls' weekly Design Notebook in The Telegraph in May 2010.
Claire's work is a contemporary take on Victorian chintz and she makes a variety of designs, including spoons, buttons, plates, bowls, jugs, tea cup and saucers and candlesticks. Every piece is exquisitely made, with even the smallest button taking the same time and effort as the larger objects.
